About Gold Rush Cupcakes
Gold Rush Cupcakes is Albuquerque’s premier cupcake destination. Not only do we offer our award winning cupcakes but we offer gourmet sandwiches, soups, salads and coffee as well. We are nestled in the heart of downtown Albuquerque near the Hyatt, Andaluz and Double Tree hotels and just a short walk from the Convention Center. We are open Monday through Friday from 10 am until 2 pm or until the last cupcake is sold. We are available on weekends by appointment only.
At Gold Rush Cupcakes we believe in baking fresh with quality ingredients and most importantly, baking with love. Owner, Melanie Gold has been baking for over 20 years; she baked her first batch of blueberry muffins with her mom and current co-worker, Eleanor Sanchez. Eleanor was pivotal in developing Melanie’s passion for baking. At Gold Rush Cupcakes our cake is moist because we bake fresh daily…but our claim to fame is really our frosting. One bite and we think you’ll agree that “Our frosting takes the cake!” Each batch starts with nothing other than fresh Philadelphia Brand cream cheese. We have taken that strong foundation and built a menu of flavors that can impress even the savviest of cupcake connoisseurs. Whether you are looking for something classic (vanilla or chocolate), something whimsical (cookies-n-cream or peanut butter) or something exotic (goat’s milk caramel infused with white wine), Gold Rush Cupcakes is where you will find it!
In addition to offering a plethora of delicious cupcakes, Gold Rush Cupcakes offers other baked desserts such as mini cannoli, scones, cake pops, brownie, tart and cookies. We are quickly earning a solid reputation for our lunch menu as well. We offer a spectacular special of the day which allows you to make ANY sandwich into a "special" (includes chips or potato salad, iced tea or a can soda and your choice of cupcake) for only 2.50 more! It really is a sweet deal!
Did you know that Gold Rush Cupcakes competed in Albuquerque the Magazine’s Chef Knock Out 4 Cupcake Wars competition? We went head to head against some of the best local bakeries and the people voted for their favorite cupcakes. And we won!!! Truly an honor as it was people’s choice. The best part about it was that proceeds from the event went to help a local charity. Gold Rush Cupcakes really takes pride in helping out the community. Civic consciousness is at the heart of what we do. We have donated to many wonderful causes: Aaron Trujeque 25th Anniversary celebration, Breast Cancer Awareness, United Way, Harwood Art Center, Off-Center Art Center just to name a few. We have sponsored some youth athletic teams, a team named “Gold Rush” was one of our favorites!
